Helibear Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 A natural desaster combined with a nuclear desaster, my thoughts are with the people of Japan. I most certainly hope it will be less bad then it looks like right now. As pilots we all know that technical systems can and will fail. We are trained to deal with it and we are all aware that there is a risk in flying and we might lose our life one day. What I just don't understand is that people still tell us that an extremly complex technical system like a nuclear powerplant is safe and will never fail. The difference is that in a helicopter some people might lose their life, in case of a nuclear powerplant millions of people could die.Is some cheap electricity really worth that risk? Fly safe and always keep your risk assesment in mind Quote
