Trevor Sundberg Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 1. Regulation § 91.319 part C states that you can't fly over a densely populated area with an experimental, unless authorized by an "Administrator". Is it common to get authorization, say for a Rotorway Exec-162 or a Scorpion? 2. Love to build a kit but honestly don't have the time. Can you buy a used already built kit plane with the 40 hour test window already passed? I know I won't be issued a repairman cert, however is this an acceptable thing to do? I'm a student with 3 hours logged, trying to avoid the price tag for buying one. I want something to practice and fly around in and I have the space to store it. Thanks for the advice! 1 Quote
Discap Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Yes there are many experimental ships available. Look through. Barnstormers and trade a plane and you will see many Rotorways with less than 200 hours for sale. I won’t address why this is, but you should do your research before committing to one. Last time I checked Rotroway was out of business so parts support may be an issue. Another option would be a Safari. The factory has several used ones available. Factory support is good from Safari. You can do all of your training and even check ride in an experimental. Bill Quote
pilotarix Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Hi all, Last time I checked Rotroway was out of business so parts support may be an issue. I have heard this a couple of times now but can't find any other information about that and the website is still up but obviously outdated or not updated since last year. Quote
