Well, i finally decided what i want to do with my life.

Ive always had a love for flying ever since i was about 4, and always wanted to fly helicopters, but the fact that the training was SO expensive and that i was a little overweight (heli's dont like fat people :( ) always threw me off of it.

But ive been doing alot of thinking latley and figured, might as well spend the money now and get training for something i love doing and do it for a living instead of spend a little less on other training that i will regret for the rest of my life. :P

Unfortunatly though, i wont be going into flight school for another 6-8 months, need to loose some weight and also need to save up some more money. :(

I had a couple questions,

What can i do inbetween now and the next 6 months before Flight school to help me prepare for it?

3 words to answer that one... line of credit! Loans suck, got me a LOC for my training and just have to pay back the interest untill I can afford the principal. Sure I'll pay more in the long run, but the bank ain't breathing down my neck either so I couldn't care less. ;)

That ties in with your home and i dont want to do that because im still living with parents and dont want them to put a home equity line of credit on our house for me.

Check into a Part 141 school. Sallie Mae and Key Bank are a couple of lenders who have programs to finace your entire career training. You may need a co-signer but the parents tend to want to help there kids out in these type of matters. It's college funding for the rotor guys.

A "Line Of Credit" does not necesacerily have to be tied to a mortgage, you just have to have a good enough credit record.

An unsecured signature loan? That's called a "credit card" and anybody so naive as to fund $50k or $60k of flight training at those interest rates is in for a rude lesson in personal finance.

Let's see..for $50 bucks you can get your 3rd class medical, and for anohter $100 bucks in books you can get to the point that you can go pass the written test....why wait? If you really want to do this, go get the medical and written out of the way first....

Is Key Bank still offering their aviation loan? I thought they pulled out of the aviation bussiness.
