If an Airport states in the AFD that it closes at 2000 Z or UTC that means in Pacific Standard Time it closes at 1200 (-8) now if Daylight savings comes along. the AFD still says that it closes at 2000Z but we set the clocks ahead one hour and now we only subtract 7 Hrs. to get local time. So does the airport stay open an hour later until 1300?depending on what season of thea year we are in?

Edit: Unless UTC Z Changes there clocks to compensate for Daylight at the same time then It would all make Sense?

Am I right in believing that UTC and Z are the same time as GMT and London time?

Kevin - UTC does not change to daylight savings time. Don't forget that if the time you are looking at in the AFD has the little ‡ symbol beside it, "The symbol ‡ indicates that during periods of Daylight Saving Time effective hours will be one hour earlier than shown." Look at # (6) TIME CONVERSION in the LEGEND near the front of your AFD. ;)

Brian - Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), Zulu time (Z), and the historical term "Greenwich Mean Time" (GMT) refer to the same standard for time observed on the Prime Meridian at the Royal Greenwich Observatory in London, England.
