darrel_s
Hello all, I’m a 30 year old desk jockey and I am currently gathering information in preparation for the drastic career change. My goal is to be a Commercial Helicopter pilot. I have read a lot of the posts but I would like to get some current opinions and hopefully some 1st hand feedback on the advantages/disadvantages of taking this particular approach to the pilot career transition. I am seriously considering obtaining my A&P after or while I train for my PPL. Is this advisable? Does having an A&P certificate make the career transition easier or make one more marketable as a helicopter CFI and down the road? Does having your A&P give you a better chance of getting the limited CFI positions at a given flight school after you finish pilot training? Any advice or personal experiences with this approach would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
