cingham Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I'm sure some of you are familiar w/ the tour company Maverick Helicopters in Las Vegas. I'm interested in a career that will take me there to fly.Currently I'm a zero, starting from scratch, no flight time no nothing. I weigh currently 265 from 280 and going down rapidly. My goal weight is 210 (i'm built like a rugby player 6'2"), but will start all my training at 240 (3 months at my rate). Does anyone know what cost out of pocket would it be to be trained to the point to fly with these guys? Also weight that they look for? I have a great job right now so I'm thinking 3 years to get there...then again I'm also applying for jobs in Iraq...I guess 70k/yr is what really interest me there. Quote
Nuke Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 What job in Iraq would you do for 70k?That seems awful low for a contractor position and 1 year of work! Quote

OK, pardon any of my sarcasm, its not meant to be mean, just meant to get you going. Does your weight keep you from getting your student pilot license? How about taking ground school at a local college? Does it keep you from taking practice tests on line? How about passing your FAA written exam? and lastly. It doesnt keep you from learning how to fly in a 300 or Bell 47 or an R44...just an R22. So I guess my opinion is what the hell are you doing waiting around for the next 3 years? Besides, if you want to work in Iraq, you can make 150K a year flying helicopters there. So, get off the bon bons and crack open a book ! My advice...you asked for it you got it. Good luck in your training, Goldy (245 pound big guy) Quote
