TPointer Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 (edited) Has anyone here attended Bristow Academy in Titusville, FL.. I am considering going to the flight school and I just wanted to know if any current pilot students here could give me some information about the school. I know that Bristow just recently purchased HAI a few months ago. Has anyone had any complaints with Bristow or had any issues regarding their flight training at the school? How is their flight schedule in terms of getting a helicopter for flight training? I know that Bristow is a large school and they teach a high volume of students each month throughout the year. Most importantly, how is the quality of their flight training and ground school? Investing this much money to attend a flight school I want to make sure that the qaulity of training has met or is at the highest standards. I know the schools states they are an accredited and FAA certified flight school, I just want to make sure that I'm making a sound decision. Any information that you can share with me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Thomas Pointer Edited August 15, 2007 by TPointer Quote

Thank you.Thomas Pointer Hey Thomas, I am currently attending Bristow Academy in Titusville FL and Ill try to answer some of you questions. First off I had all the same questions as you have when I was looking into Bristow. I took about six years to look into schools, get my medical and funds together and I have to say that it has paid off because Bristow is the real deal. There are so many schools that give you the feeling that they are just out for your money and dont care that much about the quality of your training. Here at bristow they actually care about in investing in making professional pilots. You will go through an extensive 7 week 140 hour ground school for your private license. They are very busy, but they make up for that by having plenty of CFI's and aircraft (They have I believe about 45 scweitzers and another 8 or so R22's but they probably have more now) Their maintenance is all in house and top quality. They truly do have high standards but it will pay off for you. The airport is busy but not too busy(mainly because of the school) So my review of the school so far is a 9.5 out of 10 Ill dock .5 just because it is so large. They may be big but they do give you all the assistance you need. If you have more questions let me know. Quote
fireflier11 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Looking at Bristow also, I would like to hear more about it! Plan on taking a tour in October. Getting a CFI position is one of my biggest questions. Thanks Quote

HelliBoy Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 They will hire you as a CFI if they have the need and you have proven yourself to be a professional, safe pilot. Its as simple as that. It certainly is not. You need to be a vociferous self promoter. Depending on the time of year, the winter is a low hiring period, do not take for granted that you will be hired if you are a 'professional, safe pilot', regardless if you were the best in your class. I cant remember the exact posting but I think Flingwing206 hit the nail on the head when he said something to the effect of 'HAI is probably the best school to train at and CFIing somewhere else produces the best pilots.' I couldnt agree more. RIP. Quote
