Hello from the Fairest Cape here in South Africa!

I've recently completed my PPL and am enjoying flying around here around the winefarms etc a lot! I currently only have an RH22 on my license, and I'm working on my 44 conversion at the moment.

I've noticed that one of the schools offer a conversion to an Alouette II at a rate that is about 2/3 of an R44, and was wondering if it is worth it to consider doing it. I'm not sure how much work is available on the Alouette, but at least it's turbine time and I won't be completely green with regards to turbines by the time I get to the considerably more pricey Jetranger.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

DF

You will very much enjoy flying the Alouette. It is a great machine, that is if we can keep our airworthyness certificates in the USA. A lot of people come to us after getting their PPL in order to build turbine time toward their commercial certificate. Any turbine time you acquire will do a lot for your career. A diversity of helicopters also adds to your resume'. Having different machines in your logbook shows that you adapt easily and are not afraid to try new things. Most of all, "ENJOY THE RIDE".
