Assuming you mean training and not trading? I had lunch with one of their CFI's 2 weeks ago...as far as I know all is well. Why do you ask? You may also want to PM Rotor91... Rob is fairly close to them.

PCH has closed their doors as of last Thursday. I actually got a call from a VR member, asking about it, so I called the main number...disconnected, and so I called the chief pilot. They might open another school in the future, but not at this point. There is not point in going into any details, as of whyhow they closed their doors, which I really don't know much about. I know some, but it's not worth sharing.

 

If John or Vince from PCH are reading this, please PM me, as I don't have your email. I am going to look into JJ Helicopters on the field and check them out.

 

Anybody fly at JJ? PM me, and let's chat!

 

I know that flight schools are tough to maintain, but PCH did really care about their students, at least from my POV. It will be sadly missed!

This is a bummer. I finally got my medical taken care of today and was going to try to go down to TOA and check them out and visit my grandmother. They were definitely on my short list of schools to check out. I was looking forward to th possibility of spending time out at TOA again... Oh well.

 

Do anyone have anything other than Orbic in Camarillo to recommend for a pilot based out of SBA? I have looked at the reviews and there really does not seem to be much of anything located close by.

I'm flying fixed wing at South Bay Aviation, next door to PCH RIP, and helo at JJ.

 

I heard that PCH went bankrupt and that a new firm, Tristar, is supposed to take over.

 

For the guy who was looking for John, he's freelancing at JJ and at a place down at LGB.

 

I've had good experience with JJ so far - Hitomi and John are good CFIs, the R22 they have is brand new and their second R22 is about to come back from overhaul.
