Medical exam in Canada

Can someone direct me to a site that explains the medical exam I will need to take here in Canada before I start my flight training? I will just be going for my private licence.

no site I've ever seen, but it's pretty basic and was originally developed from an army field exam. no biggie

 

-pee in a cup

-vision check (peripherals, reading a chart, bla bla bla)

-look in your ears

-open and say ahhhhhhh

-ask about your history and family history

-ECG and Hearing exam (every 5 years i think?)

-my personal favorite... drop your pants, turn and cough. never take you out for a drink first

 

with the exception of the ECG and hearing exam the whole thing takes about 10 minutes.

One more question. How long is the exam good for before you have to be tested again? ie. How much time do I have between taking the exam and starting my training?

Assuming you just want 3rd class and you're under 40, 3 years. Unless Canada is different, then I don't know. And assuming its the same theres no reason not to get the medical as soon as possible just to eliminate any problems that may take a bit of time to get your medical.
