Heli Expo Operator's Course

Looking at the list of courses offered at Heli-Expo and was wondering if the Helicopter Operator's Management Course was worth the cash and effort. I run a flight school with plans on expanding operations. Did anyone take this course last year?

Can't commment on that, but the powerline avoidance course was excellent. Worth every penny.......probably take it again in a few years.

I have been told by former attendee's that the mountain flying course is also excellent. And it is Helicopter specific rather than F/W specific. The CFI renewal courses at Heliexpo are a must for helicopter instructors. Plus the maintenance courses are top notch. Planning on the Mountain course this year.

how much cash are we talking? are these courses available to all pilots (student or otherwise?)?

Yeah, they're open to everyone and they're freakin' expensive.......anywhere from $300-$1000+ depending on the duration. Add an extra ~$100 if you're not a HAI member. Like everything else attached to Heli-Expo, HAI overcharges because they know 80-90% of the attendance is expense accounting it to their employer. If you book your hotel through HAI, it will be about 25% higher than the rate you'll get from Expedia.
