fry Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Some folks are saying that they have been told that their "student loans" are not dischargeable if they file for personal bankruptcy. There is reason to believe this may not be true because the SSH loans may not be "qualified education loans" as defined by the bankruptcy statute. This explains: http://www.finaid.org/questions/bankruptcylimitations.pdf and regarding personal bankruptcy in general: http://www.debt3online.com/?article_id=76&page=article I don't know for sure that the SSH loans are dischargeable but if it comes to a personal bankruptcy filing it is worth looking into further. Most are unsecured private loans so I think that is an option.I want to avoid bankruptcy at all costs.I am looking at no licenses for 70k plus interest in debt if the lenders hold me to the fire.It would be nice to see the lenders show some compassion towards the students.I've heard of possible pro-rated refunds but how do they pro-rate unlimited sim time or ground time. Anyone remember the thread about working over seas? I haven't been able to find it but the poster mentioned he/she was able to save a bundle to pay for flight training. This would be an excellent way to pay off this debt and save credit ratings while saving to pay cash next for the next time around.
