I live in Billings, MT and am wanting to get my private pilot in a helicopter. The only school that i know of that is close is Northern Skies Aviation in Laurel which is about a ten minute drive. I have gone and taken my intro flight last summer but have been too busy with work to start yet. The real question i had was if anyone has attended this school and could give me a review on it. I did my test flight on a saturday and there was only two people there, but they both seemed really nice and eager to help answer any questions. If anyone has any help or knowledge of the school that would be great. Thanks for any help.

Bud, i think you may have met one of our more famous members/moderators PhotoFlyer B)

As far as I can tell they're a good school... Enough to have me drive across the state, quite literally past two other helicopter schools, to check them out :P

PhotoFlyer works there as an instructor, if you have any questions you might launch them his way...

I went to Northern skies for all of my training and think that they do a very good job. I just finished my cfii in Feb. They will work with you to fit your time schedule. As far as I can tell they apply the teaching to real world flying. They use real confined areas such as sand bars on the river, or ridges and small openings in the trees, all of which are only minutes from the airport. Oh and about Photoflyer, dont hold that agianst the school. Just kidding he does a good job.
