beware of this canadian company....

A warning to Pilots who get a job offer from a company called JB Air in "the Pas" in Manitoba.

This company has recently promised Jobs to Pilots for their firefighting operations. Mostly Pilots with just 1000 hours from outside Canada, but with Canadian License have been told that a work permit is ready.

The downside: in order to get the job you have to get a PPC, a Pilot Proficiency Check. A normal thing in Canada, where every Pilot has to get a biannual checkout on type and company Procedures. A normal thing in Canada: the company pays for it.

this Company says: we pay you back, when you come again for the second season. or should i say IF you come again?

after you have then done this PPC on a 206 for quite some dough, they ask you to come to "the Pas", on your own Dollar of course.

They do this to more Pilots than they need, hire one, and the rest sits on the costs. and in Canada.

Nothing wrong with making your choice out of a pool, everybody wants the best, but at least don't tell everybody they have a job.

There would be no problem if they would tell everybody to come for an Interview first.

JB Air has done this in the past years, and they have done it this year. Pilots have come from Overseas, just to find out that Joe and Kim Barr have promised more than they ever intended to give.

Even what they promise to pay you, is not what the pay. Why? They know, once you're there, at the end of the world, and you want that job, you take what they say.

They hire every year, because nobody is coming back the next season. You would rather write off your investment, then work for them again.

Maintenance is the owner himself, and the aircraft are not in good condition.

Anybody had similar experience with JB?

I write this down just so people learn from other Pilots mistakes.
