Goldy
I don't recall seeing this or hearing about it before today. Blackwater Crash May the pilot R.I.P. I think it was mentioned, but yes, very sad. Hooked a skid and before the commercial pilot could say anything the CFI flipped it over. But practicing landing on a railing? I know some guys that practice on a block wall, but a rail is sure pushing the limits! Edited March 8, 2009 by Goldy
rodrop
Very sad..I read one article where the student was interviewed and he indicated he tried to warn the pilot that the skid was getting ready to hit the rail. Quite an example of dynamic rollover.

Blackwater (or whatever they're called now) aviation guys do some very impressive stuff that most people wouldn't consider. A lot of their pilots are former 160th aviators. We had one of our pilots who was flying with them about 3 years ago get shot down over Baghdad. It would be one hell of an opertunity to train with them, but it's definitely a risky outfit to join.
