Chopperjess
Not sure if this will help become a good and safe pilot.. However a really good book to read is called Chickenhawk. It's about a helicopter pilot in vietnam. It's really good.

Tom22
The Art of the Helicopter written by John Watkinson is an excellent book that bridges the gap between engineering text and pilot training manuals. I think the new version of the FAA Rotorcraft Flying Handbook will be out next month so you might want to hold off ordering one.
