SpiralWing Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Looking at the new requirements and wanted a little feedback on 61.65.e.2.ii.A - A flight of 100 nautical miles along airways or by directed routing from an air traffic control facility... Do you read that as minimum total distance, distance of one leg, straight line distance or... Other? Quote
rotormandan Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Total course to and from whether on airways or a direct course under ATC supervision. The airport still has to be at least 25nm away to count as a x-country for training though. Technically you could zig zag back and forth on an airway until you accumulate 100nm and do you three approaches and call it good, but that wouldn't be as fun. Quote
ADRidge Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 It's minimum total distance, per my CFII. When I did mine, we ended up doing a 108 nm circle around DFW, hitting all eight or so Deltas and doing approaches. I did mine at night, which was nice. Ended up being like 2.8 of night time. Quote
Pohi Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 This question came up a while ago and we had to call the FSDO. What they said is basically if you plug the flight into DUATS and DUATS says that the distance is greater than 100 miles, then you are good. Quote
