RockyMountainPilot Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Forced? No one is forced to fly anything. I think you are being a bit over dramatic. RMP, I would never turn anyone away that wanted to fly. With or without money. And how do you afford give people free flight training? Because I know plenty of poor people who would love to learn to fly. Are you willing to train for free all the people who paid $60K to SSH and never flew once out of the goodness of your heart? Maybe you are over-exaggerating a bit? Quote
R22139RJ Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 The law of supply and demand doesn't work properly in aviation because most instructors will take any other job that comes along. I would attribute this to love. Flying is an amazing experience and doing it for a career is the greatest opportunity in the world. I accept low wages because sometimes I get to wake up, look at how wonderful the day is, and get to fly a helicopter. Not many people get to do this. I'll take the first job I can after the instructing gig because it will be a new place to fly, a new ship to learn about, and another experience to have. I'm sure that someday, the thrill of flying will pass and I'll care a lot more about money when it becomes just a job, but for now, I'm pretty happy. Quote

I also did not say that I give free flight training, I said that if a person came to my facility wanting to fly, they would be afforded the opportunity. I do not class people as rich or poor. You show me a passion for flying and I guarantee you will get the opportuity. Quote
