Aaaron16
I find myself frequently travelling to downtown LA and was wondering if there are restrictions for use of the helipads located on most of the highrise buildings? Has anyone used these before? If so, what's the process for getting approval for them?
JDHelicopterPilot
All helipads with in L.A. City limits are for Emergency use only. You won't be able to get permission. The only time I landed anywhere in the L.A.City limits was at Hooper Heliport. That is the LAPD heliport and J knewsomeone who I was able to get permission from for a tour of the Aviation Wing andonly at 3am.
McGavin
There is one. They charge $500 per landing. I land there regularly.

McGavin
http://ems.dhs.lacounty.gov/PrehospitalCare/HeliPadFacilities/PI-CalifHosp.pdf No shut downs, just drop off & pick up.
JDHelicopterPilot
Interesting. Thanks for the information. All the years I have flown there I never knew about this. So they allow non-emergent private charter pick up and drop off.
