Sloan Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Now that the FAA is back in business, post shutdown, anyone know what the backlog is like for getting your plastic?? I got a type rating almost two years ago and was surprised to get my plastic in about two weeks. I'm curious if that's still the case. 5 Quote
ridethisbike Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Psh... pre-shut down it was taking us around a month before we got the new shiney in the mail. I took my CFI ride a week and a half ago, I'll let you know when I get it in the mail if you want. 2 Quote
Sloan Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Thanks RTB! I'm out of the country now, so it'll be a while before I'll get it. Quote
Sloan Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 For all of you that are sitting on the edge of your seats just waiting and wondering when I'll get my plastic, well the waiting is over. It showed up in the mail yesterday!! Quote
ridethisbike Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Two months later I have my permanent CFI cert... I got mine in the mail yesterday as well. Quote
AngelFire_91 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If you go to the FAA website, and look at Airman Certification it has a note at the top of the page under News and Highlights that says what time period they are processing. http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/ It's usually fairly accurate, but I don't know exactly how accurate it is. 1 Quote
crashed_05 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks AngelFire . . . I've never noticed that. From my experience, it seems to alway vary. I've had my permenant arrive in the mail as early as two weeks after the checkride to as long as past the 120 day limit of the temporary. Paper versions of the 8710 are always quite a wait. Quote
gary-mike Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Dang, they are still a month behind from when I did my check ride! Quote
