Flying Pig Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I see some companies with less than desirable locations offer off duty housing. Specifically Parker AZ for AMC. Any idea what that "house" looks like? Quote
heligirl03 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I'm not familiar with AMC's but others' in that area provide single family homes as off-duty quarters to avoid the sleep interruptions common to apartment living. The SW is cheap enough that a house is totally reasonable but the standard of house in those small towns is often dependent simply upon what is available when the operator needs to sign. The kitchen, dining, living, and bedrooms are typically equipped sufficiently (single beds, couch, TV, kitchen supplies). The ones I've seen were all perfectly reasonable, I'd have no problem staying there if I had to commute. Quote
Flying Pig Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Ahhhhhh ok. I think I misunderstood "off-duty housing". I thought that meant that if you got the job the company provided you an off-duty house....... As in you and your family got a free house as a way to entice people to work at that location. But from how you explain it, it's off duty while you are working your 7 on hitch, then you commute back home. Funny... Quote
Azhigher Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 ^Yep, somewhere to sleep for your 12 hours off. And heligirl pretty much hit the nail on the head, AMC housing is usually a furnished single family home. Quote
