Im a high time pilot >10,000 hours, ATP licences for both Canada and the USA experienced in utility work and now working HEMS. I see lots of work for pilots in the USA and was wondering how easy it is to get employment as a foreigner? I need a company that would be willing to sponsor me for a green card. I would ideally like to find employment in the HEMS industry in Arizona. My wife has issues with arthritis and the desert climate agrees with her. I am willing to look at any options however. Can anyone point me in some direction besides north?

I have checked that avenue, the lottery program is set up to increase cultural diversity bringing in new immigrants from the more obscure places in the world. Canadians, Brits and so on aren't eligible.

I see many job postings for EMS pilots in the US. Seems they're having a hard time filling seats. Why not contact those companies and see if they will sponsor you? As a high time experienced pilot you should be in demand. It would be good karma since Canada has sponsored so many foreign pilots, here's a chance for some reciprocity.

I'm guessing there's a bit of tongue in cheek going on here.

There are so many Canadian rotary jobs that are being listed it seems to me a Canadian pilot could almost write their own ticket.

They sure are protecting those jobs from any Americans taking them.

Oh contraire! Canadian pilots with 500 to 1000 hours find it almost impossible to get a job, let alone the guys with a new license. Unlike the US (flight instructing) there are very few openings for low time pilots to get hours. The Canadian industry has sponsored hundreds of foreign pilots with the magic 1000 rather than bringing low timers up through the ranks since 2008. The vast majority of Canadian pilots got their start before '08 and there is a developing experience gap now. An American pilot with over 1000 hours of operational flying will find many companies willing to sponsor under the Temporary Foreign Worker program. Some places "up north" have more Aussies and Kiwis than Canadians working. Ah what a pity for the poor low timers...

But yes I was being a bit cheeky because Canada has given so many helicopter jobs to foreigners the OP might be able to collect on that karma.
