apacheguy Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Best way to remove CARC paint from a tail rotor? Also, how hard is it to polish the rotor itself, will it shine up with some work or is it permanently fugly? 1 Quote
Jhanner1 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Haha I deal with carc all the time it's some tough stuff. I've used several strippers and the rustoleom brand gel stripper ( auto zone sells it) is by far the best. Just be careful it will burn you in a hurry. Not sure on the polishing, not sure of the material of the rotor. But the stripper works great on carc, I used it to strip my cherokee. Quote
apacheguy Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 I'll give that a try, thanks for the info. I think the metal is aluminum, so in theory it should shine up nicely but I may have to use a buffing wheel and polish once I strip the paint. If it ends up looking bad I'll just get it painted and airbrushed, but I'd like to see how the bare metal is. Quote
Jhanner1 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 start with 2000 grit sandpaper and work your way down to a jewelers rouge. Haha yeah I love using strippers😀 Quote
