Ive seen this two different ways. Some ads will say what this one says, 2000 total hours, 1500 helicopter. Then others will read CAMTS Req: 2000 helicopter. This one in particular is from a PHI ad. Which one is actually the CAMTS req? 2000 total time or 2000 helicopter?

It is being interpreted both ways. But more companies like AEL and AMC are interpreting it to be 2,000 hours total, of which 1,500 have to be rotary. PHI still continues to interpret it as 2,000 hours rotary in most cases.

CAMTS requirement is 2,000 TT and 1,500 TT helo:

 

05.07.00 PILOT IN COMMAND QUALIFICATIONS
05.07.01 The pilot must possess at least a commercial rotorcraft-helicopter and instrument helicopter rating.
05.07.02The pilot must possess 2000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1500 helicopter flight hours prior to an assignment with a medical service with the following stipulations:
1. At least 1000 of those hours must be as PIC in rotorcraft
2. 100 hours unaided (if pilot is not assigned to an NVG base/aircraft)
3. 100 hours unaided or 50 hours unaided as long as the pilot has 100 hours aided (if assigned to an NVG base/aircraft)
4. A minimum of 500 hours of turbine time―1000 hours of turbine time strongly encouraged
05.07.03 ATP certificate and instrument currency is strongly encouraged

 

Doesn't mean the employer won't require a higher min though. Ours exceeds CAMTS requirements.
