GSPilot Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I've met a couple of fellows from the military transitioning to civilian flying at my flight school. I would say your best friends are going to be your colleagues in the military who have already moved on to civilian flying. It seems like the EMS world likes military pilots because you are procedurally correct with actual instrument time and NVG. Start networking with your friends and also get more flight time if you are able. 1500 is just starting out in the civilian world unfortunately. Other jobs that fit your experience would be oil and gas which seem to be trending up now. They were laying off the last couple years but I've seen some are hiring again for light turbine jobs. Quote
Guest pokey Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 There is some good info in this thread to avoid wasting time... Pull you pants up, Butters! Yes, i have learned to NOT write a 600 page cover letter ! and i bet Mrs Butters says that to him all the time too. Quote
Guest pokey Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Golf ,...oh no wait, that's "be the ball". No nO and NO ! yer in the wrong movie, its not be the ball, you must DRESS like the ball. After all? you would dress up as a clown if you were going on an interview to be a clown no? (right bug?) Only an idiot would dress as a sailor to sign up for the army (right bug?) Would you not feel strange (more like an idiot) walking in on the owner as he is bucking rivets, and you in your "tailored 3 piece suit and try to hand him a resume instead of a bucking bar?" NOW ! here is how ya really impress him,, ya pull a few 2117's out of yer top pocket, an L shaped bar outtah yer rear, and happen to have enuf hot air to power his rivet gun! oh yes, back to butters and his golf game, now 1st? you must dress like the ball, errr i mean address the ball:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnx4vFQWO-I Quote
