DanKearney Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 What is the purpose of the small protrusions extending from the blades of the Ingenuity Mars helicopter? I googled and googled, but couldn't find an answer. I know nothing about helicopters (Other than riding a few in my Army days). I came across this forum randomly and figured someone here might know. I've attached a photo. Cheers, Dan K. Quote
Wally Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Just a guess- mass (weight) balance, to offset the torsion load of the weight of the blade feathering axis. Quote
klas Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) From an article and drawing in the magazine Popular Mechanics (can’t provide link as it is a subscription only), they are ‘weights’. https://images.app.goo.gl/anv4GN7NQ5GfxMAW9 Edited August 25, 2023 by klas Quote
