Kuma Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 All- I have an interview with the Sheriff's Air Department and was hoping to pick your brains as to what kind of questions they might ask. One of the local FBO instructor pilots (who used to be in law enforcement) gave me a couple of great scenarios which involved fuel, weather, high terrain, overly aggressive "can do" attitude and mission priorities. What questions were asked at your interview? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance-Kuma Quote
EAGLE1 Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Sounds like your friend hit most of them. I would also think about questions like, who is in command of the flight vs who is in command of the ship? Conflict resolution with fellow crew members, and how you would deal with a pilot who you observe engaging in unsafe flying practices. Good Luck. Quote
Kuma Posted September 25, 2003 Author Report Posted September 25, 2003 Thanks Eagle 1- Your topics are very good, and I've given them a lot of thought. I think that I have good answers/methodoloy for answering them. Any more insight from you would be great. The unit I'm applying to has the callsigns Eagle 1 and 2 and also Falcon 30. Are you any relation? If so, may I have more of the inside scoop? Thanks again-Kuma Quote
EAGLE1 Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 No you are not applying to my unit, but I am going to guess you are applying for Fresno County. Our call signs are EAGLE1,2, and 3. We are a joint powers air unit in southern California and have been using the EAGLE call sign since the 70's. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Another question we like to throw out there is; what is your weakest point (as a person, pilot etc., choose one) and what have you done to improve yourself in that area. Quote
Flying Pig Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Your applying to Placer County Sheriff? Quote
Kuma Posted October 4, 2003 Author Report Posted October 4, 2003 Yes, I am. I went and flew with them last week. I hope to hear something soon. They're not sure if they need another pilot right now, but if they don't need me now, I hope they'll need me in the future. I'll let you know how it turns out. Quote
