Can anyone tell me any information about Silver State Helicopters Flight Academy. I went to a seminar last night that they held. It seemed just to good to be true. Any info would be great.

one word- FAQ!!!

*EDIT*

after checking the FAQ myself I realized that silver state helicopter topics have been abbreviated as SSH and no one new is going to know that. I look into getting that fixed. My bad.

A seminar?

Yeah. they were runing this ad on the radio that said they would teach you to fly helicopters. You called a number and registered to go to an "infomercial" They held it in a hanger at the Lakeland, FL airport. They had a few helicopters there and they explained the program. Has anyone else been to one of these or know of anyone who knows anything about Silver State?

I guess I'll be the one to say it- "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

Not a negative comment, just words to live by.

I ain't saying nuthin.

I understand many people are pissed, and many people are pleased. Just look around for a school where you pay as you go. It'll be better for you in the long run.

Let us know where you are, so we can suggest some good schools for you to go to.

Silver State would have a good program, if it were not for the absurd contract you have to sign to join and if they had enough helicopters to train the students they have signed up.

Just a piece of advice from someone who initially trained on airplanes at a school similar to Silver State...

It's a pilot factory

If you have the money on hand and ready to go, they will be too.

If you do loans or pay as you go, you can and probably will fall through the cracks.

No matter what pilot factory you go to, the instructors will have too many students and not enough aircraft or maintenance to support them.

Ergo, avoid them as best as possible.

One other piece advice... smaller operations are usually your best bet. They tend to hire on their students after completion, and it is a much more personal and catered training. Also, SSH does have some negative postings about it around the industry. While this can happen to any school, THERE ARE MANY out there that have no negative press. Take that as you call it.

Good luck man.

There are many sites out there that discuss the pro's and con's of silver state helicopters. At this time, however, this site is not one of them. The owner of this site has requested that there be no discussion of SSH at this time, due to a threat of legal action. My apologies to those who are on a sincere search for information about SSH.
