jimbo2181 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I was wondering if anyone had a single pilot 135 program all laid out with op specs and MELs and all the good stuff. We are looking to start a program for a R44 single pilot 135 and would be willing to talk about compensation for the work done. If anyone thinks they can help please post here or PM me. Thanks, Cooper Quote
bell206b Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 My recommendation is to go to the faa wepbsite and do it yourself. Cookie cutter programs are exactly that and the faa will see right through it.besides for single part 135 - your opspecs will come right out of the far 135. MEL - forget it!!! it ain't happening, in other words if it doesn't work repair it or replace it.good luckex-single now basic part 135 Quote

Part 135 is for commuter or on-demad / call when needed services. IE: Providing a shuttle / carrier service between say salt lake and idaho falls. Different, more strict rules that part 91 (25 mile radius fun flights). I could be wrong, as I am not looking at the FAR, but I think the real brunt of commercial work is part 135 (cargo, passengers, point a to point b, etc). 500 min to act as pic and operate under part 135. I have certainly thought of this option and have been doing some research. Unless you are wealthy beyond reason, it seems out of reach initially. A one man business with a single aircraft, business models, investors or lines of credit, insurance, advertising / marketing, Operations and Maintenance, tooling for aircraft, etc etc....Its a tough call. I am still doing my research. Can I generate enough revenue to pay the insurance, my own salary, the operating costs, and bank note on that shiny new MD 600, and the hand full of other overhead / expense? Hmmmm........ New guy would start part 91 until 500 hrs, then apply for the 135 Carrier certificate and build your business. OR, there is the Espresso stand, minimal start-up, minimal financial liability, virtually all profits, and no 2000 overhauls or quater million dollar engines. Quote

My response is that all the info in on the faa website and the faa will walk you throught it. So why pay for a cookie cutter program that you will not even know the contents, so when the faa inspector asks he/she will know you do not have clue. Besides it is your program to develop it within the guidelines set by the FAA. Soooooooooo the pposters first step is to call the faa and set up a meeting and "surprise" the info will theire. Besides for a single pilot all you need is a compliance statement that willl eventually become your OPSECs, have a conforminty inspection of the aircraft, and a checkride. Not really rocket science. Took me about 4 months from start to finish. Now I am a Basic Part 135. To recieve a Part 135 you must mmet the requirements as stated in Part 119 and 135. Quote
