Witch Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 (edited) Que somber background music. I just got done reading the Low flying 500 thread and have become dispondant. Safety freaks? Oh, I hope not. Hatchet got me to thinkin' about some of the vids we see on Youtube and how we interpret them as being safe or not. I'd hate to see the lot of us calling each other names and not taking our meds. Remember the R-22 on the canal? The same guy also did a fast drop into a canyon over a river. Now, some of us would do the same, others not. I'm wanting to fly low and slow and maybe fly part of the Willamette at 100'AGL. I'm a bit scared to go lower. Others might want to fly it 10'AGL, or lower and get the skids wet. If they crash, they crash. If they don't, they don't. I'd like to think we all have freedom of choice. I'd like to think we all would be responsible for our own actions and be willing to take the consequenses for said actions. For those who argue the insurance goes up because of hot shots, I ask you-when have insurance rates gone down? Not very often? Same with autos. Even those rates increase. Home insurance? Unless you live next to a hydrant, they're going up. And what of health insurance? Have you been paying more lately? What I'm saying is look at those vids as some more webjunk that the world puts on there. Also look at other stupid vids of other people doing stupid things like lighting themselves of fire and jumping into a pool of gasoline. We've all done stupid things. We're still here, and others will do stupid things, videotape it, and put it on youtube so that we can call each other jackasses. I don't want us to become like Just Helicopters. But they are funny sometimes. Kiss and make up? Sorry for the rambling, I just needed to say that. Later Edited November 19, 2006 by Witch Quote

Jocko Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Well said Witch !!!!!! Although I feel the need to add something. I would like to think that we are all adult enough to not get so personal with the comments and digs at each other but I guess that is a silly assumption on my part. Do you all realize just what you were all getting so mad about , I’m guessing after it started getting personal the video was only cannon fodder. IT WAS ONLY A VIDEO. Now everyone is forming opinions about the others abilities as a pilot based on how they posted a comment on a forum thread. How silly is that. I keep telling my kids that when ever they talk to someone on line and they don’t physically know this person that they need to picture them as a 45 year old fat guy in his underwear sitting in a trailer drinking a beer and taking naked pictures of his cousin and posting them online. If you understand why I just told you that last little bit about my kids good. If not and you want it explained forget it you wouldn’t understand anyway. Rock on Quote
