xusmcr Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I am getting conflicting answers. If there are any pilots or students who have used the G.I.Bill I know they cover 60%. Is it true that if you are a veteran with a 20% or more disability rating that the V A will cover the costs of flight school.I already have a PPL in fixed wind with almost 100 hrs.If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.Thanks loosecannon682000@yahoo.com is my email address Quote
Nuke Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 This is not true. However, the VA VOC REHAB program may pay for flight training if it is associated with a higher degree, (ie. Bachelors) from an accredited college or University. They will not pay for just flight training. You will find that most VA counselors do not have a clue as to what they cover. They are mostly minimum wage employees and don't understand their own system. There is more to qualifying for VOC REHAB than the golden 20%. You must be unemployed, or your disability must hinder your current employment, etc...... Many have tried, rumor is that some have snuck through the system, so good luck and if they let you fly tell us how you got them to pay for it! Quote
mechanic Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Hey,Jocko was fighting it pretty hard. Have not seen him here in a while. I helped him with VA Manuals. You can start with VA M-22. Jocko never told me how that turned out. Last I remember he was moving to FL to start training. Later Quote
