marcofl Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Hello all I'm looking for any advice on reputable schools in Florida. Tampa would be great as it's my home, but I will move if need be. I am a former skydiver and have had the opportunity to jump out of several helicopters. I have flown in too many fixed wing aircraft to name, but helo's have always taken the cake over fixed wing. I am at a point in my life where I have made several changes that would allow me to completely immerse myself into a program and attempt to launch a career in this exciting industry. For someone that can dedicate the time and money is it conceivable to do this at 36? I have several friends flying in corporate and legacy airline slots. Two of the four have said a career in the rotary-wing business is what they would do if they didn't have so much seniority built up in their current locations. That tells me an awful lot. Thanks for any input Quote

helonorth Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Tomlinson is a fine operation, but quite a drive from Tampa. Last winter I took an instrumentlesson in Clearwater. I didn't stay with them because of the Robinson SFAR (it would have cost toomuch to meet the PIC requirements) but it was a decent place. Unrortunately, I can't remember thename of it. It was at the Clearwater airport the instructor was a Dutch girl named Nicolene(sp?)Shouldn't be too hard to find. Quote
shoover Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I just started at Elite Helicopters in Lakeland. I didn't look at too many schools because location was important for me but from what I read I knew to stay away from SSH. They have an R44 and R22(though it's currently getting repaired). Would be happy to provide more info if you would like. Quote
