Hey Everyone -

Was just wondering if there were any other VRers attending the current Safety Course at Robinson this week?

We had several great shots of the new R66 firing up and taking off. I have a video I will be posting on YouTube, I will link to it when I get it online.

Hey Junkie- next time you see Doug flying the R66, tell him number 6 says hello. He was my DPE ....

I'm there with you! I actually remembered to log on today because I was going to ask the same thing.

I've been sitting by the guy with the dreads (who I'm really confused about, but whatever).

I just can't wait for the flight.

See you tomorrow!

Too funny - I was wondering about him myself! He seems to sleep most of the class...oh well, I am sre he knows it all already!

Sounds good, I'll look you up - I am sitting on the right center of the room, front row, left most seat right in front of Tim.

Witch -

I found the course absolutely fascinating. Tim Tucker has great information and he is a great presenter as far as I am concerned. Also, I got a lot of my questions answered by him and the head mechanic both while they were giving the classes.

It started out with Frank Robinson himself giving a class which was very interesting, especially the part about flying helicopters and light aircraft being about as dangerous as riding a motorcycle in S. California!! Imagine my greater surprise when he sat with us at lunch and answered more questions. Tim Tucker, the Robinson chief instructor took it from there and he is full of great information and not afraid to answer the tough questions.

The maintenance portion was also very informative, and coming as an owner, I ended up with a lot of good intel on how the factory says things should be done as opposed to a bunch of stuff on the net. The had a complete rotor system with cyclic and collective and an engine and operational clutch assembly out of a 22 there as well.

I did post several videos of the R66 that we saw firing p and heading out for some test flights, and I have a few pictures of the rotor system, but other than that, nothing much else.

I am very busy (like who isn't) and for me to take four days out of my schedule is tough. I am beyond glad that I did and would recommend the course to anyone that has not already taken it. You won't regret the time and Robinson makes it well worth the money.

Hope this helps.

hahaha oh my goodness, if that's the same semi-tall guy that was @ the march 24th course with the dreads then he must seriously be slacking. from what i could tell, he was falling asleep in that course also. i doubt that it could be the same guy; but then it might just tell us something about people with natty dreads...... they're always sleepy!

It might be the guy - this guy was sleeping all the time as well. Plus when they told us to shut off our cell phones, his woke him up !!!

Too Funny!

It really was a great class, and there was lot's of information to take in, if a person was willing to.

It seemed to me that most of the information was stuff I had heard before, but I was still able to learn quite a bit extra, and get a much better understanding of the topics. Part of that might be because it was a different format, or that I am farther along than when I heard it the first time, or maybe we just went more in depth with some of the information. Either way, I have 25+ pages of notes to go over now.

The flight was incredible, and I was fortunate to be in one of the Robinson owned R-22s, so my instructor let me do a full down when we got back to Torrance. We flew to Compton, did all sorts of autos there; Straight in, 180's, zero speed, Min. rate/descent, throttle chops. Then we went and did a few other things away from the airport, then back in for my first full down auto.

I guess nobody like my new dreads. J/K. Wasn't me. B)
