Hillcrest Aircraft?

I was just browsing companies in the directory here and ran across Hillcrest in Lewiston ID. From searching the forum, I'm thinking maybe 206driver is or did work for them? Was curious what kind of info you might have on the company and the Lewiston area in general? Trying to find a new place to live in the NW and putting out as many feelers as possible. Thanks.

FauxZ,

I've worked with them (not for) on a couple of different fires last season. They used to have an exclusive use contract ship in Pocatello (type III) and currently have a type II exclusive use contract ship in Price Valley (Near New Meadows).

As far as Lewiston goes, it is the lowest elevation community in the State and as a result, has fairly mild weather in the winter. The Snake and Clearwater rivers meet in Lewiston and the town is also a freshwater port. Lewiston is fairly dry but there are mountanious areas close by. There is also the University of Idaho just up HWY 95 in the town of Moscow. I've never lived there but I've heard good things about the community (the only downside is the pulp mill which tends to be a little on the stinky side). Lots of outdoors type activities close by so if you are into that, you ought to take a look. Oh, the Steelhead fishing is supposed to be fantastic on the Clearwater upstream from Lewiston towards Orofino.

I live in Lewiston. Yes, it is the best place on earth to fly helicopters (don't tell anyone).

I own a 300. It is the only private ship in lewiston. There is a guy with a 44 trying to start tours in Clarkston (the city across the river from lewiston), a guy with an alouette trying to do some misc work out of Clarkston, Hillcrest aircraft at the lewiston airport that is Bell only.......and Leading Edge aviation in Clarkston that has a 500, Huey, Lama, 12ET...

Lewiston is an elevation of 760'... the airport is at 1400' and the surrounding 15 miles rises to 2500' so it is kinda in a hole. It has a combined city population of about 60000. The major industry is the paper mill that can put out a good IFR fog if the weather is right and it can stink if you're downwind. Most people live here because they like the outdoors... it is gaining ALOT of retirees. It is basically surrounded by wheat fields and rivers.

PM if you'd like and I could tell you anything you'd like to know more specifically about the aircraft operators.

Thanks guys. The wife and I are currently living in Phoenix and we're pretty much done with the hot desert. Anything west of Kansas is open, looking to move to a less populated area, but still close to a major airport to facilitate easy travel. I saw Lewiston is only about 2 hours from Spokane and had a major helicopter operator in town, seems like a good fit. Of course this is all just tentative as I have no clue if they'd even hire me. But the info on the town is good. I'll probably shoot you some PM's api. Thanks again.

I moved up here from Chandler to go to school, and I MISS Az. BADLY, it is cold up here, and me no likey, but Lewiston seems appealing.
