Mymm
Hey folks, anybody fly helo's for the USAF? I'm exploring some different options and looking for some input. recommend the USAF avenue for RW piloting?trouble getting seat time?thanks From what I recall, to do rotary in the AF you need to be a fixed wing AF guy first or a qualified Rotary pilot already. Since the AF does not have warrant officers you need to meet the criteria to be an O grade officer, education levels etc. It's also supposed to be extremely competitive since your against current AF guys and fully qualified rotary guys. FLHooker
Not completely true, You get selected as a AF Pilot, go through their UPT training, at some point during the training you select either FW or RW, and then split off to go your seperate ways. ohman
Will an RW PPL give me any advantage?
FLHooker
to my knowledge, having any rating will help in your selection, especially in the AF. Having the RW vs the FW may just tell them your interest in the RW program. CHAD
