StanFoster
A windmill turbine farm about 30 miles from me had one of its turbines chuch off a 148 foot long blade. They have not determined the cause yet. I lit my turbine in my Helicyle and flew down to take this video. I have my GoPro camera mounted on the belly of my Helicycle with a remote switch on my cyclic. I can take pictures, ....pictures every 0.5 seconds thru 10 seconds.....or videos, all while flying with both hands. I hovered near the turbine generatoir unit which is over 300 feet up from the ground. There was a steady 20 mph wind up there.....and was this ever a sight thats hard to describe to someone thats never hovered next to such a massive structure. Those blades are huge! The blades as mentioned ar 148 feet long with the chord at its widest point at 11 feet. I have been flying my Helicycle for 2.25 years now and it just is a joy to fly,.
Goldy
Wow, nice smooth control, especially in the wind with a light weight helo! Cool the way you have the Go Pro set up!
Rotortramp
Perhaps the cause was someone hovering their helicycle too close to the windmill blades Cool video though! And of course helicycles are the coolest choppers in town.
StanFoster
Rotortramp- Yea, I should have mentioned how much tougher my aluminum blades are chomping at the fiberglass windmill blades! Stan
adam32
How far away did the blade end up?
