I just read another depressing angry exchange on here so I thought we need a happy thread. You know what I love? Watching the sun set over the ocean as I'm coming in to land from my last flight of the day knowing I have my favorite beer waiting for me in the fridge. What's your great flying moments that happen regularly? Not those once in a blue moon perfect flights.

Sunset, sunrise, and the hour on the dark side of each, especially after a strong cold front. But my favorite is when the plan comes together. It's stupid, but I'm happy to hit all my speeds and altitudes on the approach, hold the pitch attitude steady from 300' agl and just settle into the hover.

Galloping across the bay towards the airfield at 140kt downwind, do a 180 quickstep with gear extension halfway around, to finish in a hover on the piano keys - even the Tower said "Gee, that looked good!"

That's not stupid at all Wally. There's a big difference between someone who wiggles sticks and gets where they're going and someone who has control of the aircraft.

Mine is two fold. The first one is beaching out on the first day back on hitch as the sun is rising over the Gulf. The second is beaching in on break day and knowing I'm done for 2 weeks. LOL
