vertrefadmin Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 Here's a pic of the other side without the door. We dart them from the air, wait for them to go down then land next to them. No jumping out of the helicopter. Too many branches to hit for the poor moose mugger to jump out of the helicopter. By the way, moose is good meat but it is illegal to use the helicopter to hunt in the state of Alaska. You can't even use it for spotting the moose prior to a hunt or to pack meat out or to fly you out. Quote

Joking (and helicopters) aside - I seem to recall someone telling me that you are only allowed so many moose per season. Is this the case? Looking at the size of those things, just one could last you more than a year I would imagine... Quote

Yeah, it is interesting that you can't hunt from a helicopter but you can chase them, shoot them, and do all sorts of tests on them as long as you have the right people on board. I just work here... As far as the total number of moose you can harvest: it varies with the area and the herd count. Quote
500E Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Moose Mugger now theres a job !Could not see the Pas side in first photo door off, and the temps ?? - how much? dam you boys a Temsco are tuff . Quote
vertrefadmin Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 Is wasn't too cold. Around 16 F to 24 F. It was -30 F, however, at 5,500 ft for the flight home the next day. I climbed up that high going back to base due to the turbulence. Put the door on for the flight home though. I may be slow in the brain but I know enough to put the door on for the flight home. I don't think I'm tough; I think I'm just too stupid to realize that I should be sitting at my desk instead. Quote
