Operators and owners can post info regarding their ferry flights so students can contact them and maybe go along.

I think that will  be a great idea and I will put my name on the list.

I am an A&P with more than 10 years experience and also hold a helicopter private license with a total of 150 hrs. only 43 in piston and the rest in turbine(206, 206L's, UH-1H) I can be very helpfull in any ferry. I did one from Ecuador all the way to Lafayettee LA. I also speak spanish. You can contact me by email at paeslima@mail.com

:D I definately agree... I think this a fabulous idea. I also am very interested in being involved . This a great, and controlled enviroment for time building.  If anyone is interested in an extra set of eyes, and hands on any flights anywhere, please don't hesitate to contact me.   I am a dual rated pilot (private fixed/ commercial rotary) with 175 hrs total time (85 BH06 -- 54 RH22, and 36 C172.  I am currently in the midst of completing my IFR ratings (fixed/Rotary).  Again thanks for giving us 'low time' pilots some thought and consideration.

The latest issue of Heli Ops where I have floated this idea is just now starting to get to everyone so hopefully some of these operators will take the initiative and post some opportunities here.

Also if you hear of anything going, and know you cant do it for some reason or another, do the right thing and post details here so someone else from the forum can. Remember what goes around comes around.

:D This is the greatest idea. I am ready to go anywhere in the world to help ferry a ship from A to B. I have about 30 hours in a 206Biii going from AK to Los Angeles, and it was one of the best expereinces I have ever had. I was able to learn a ton, and the operator shaved about $3000 off his transit costs for that machine. I am a Commercial Helicopter pilot in the San Francisco area. I have about 350 total helicopter, and 160 total Airplane. I have experience in Bell 47, S300c, Enstroms all makes and models, H500c, B206Biii and some exposure (that means I was given the stick for an hour or more - thanks to those generous folks) to Astar and Gazelle. It seems like the going rate is about $100 an hour to help ferry a ship someplace. Anyone who wants a hand I'm up for it! Thanks Heli Ops for putting this great Idea out there. - Jonathan

Jonathan,

I too second that motion.  This is a great way for low time pilots to build experience and get those first turbine hours.

Of course, at some point one has enough time that doing it for free isn't required, but for low time pilots, this might be the only way to get that time and experience.

I was recently given the opportunity to fly a twin turbine helicopter for two hours on a short ferry flight, and I must say that experience will be with me for the rest of my life, my first 2 hours of turbine time!  :)

Great idea.  Probably because I am also available and eager to ferry helicopters to gain time -- anytime, anywhere.  Currently based in AZ.  I have my commercial licenses in r/w, and f/w single and multi engine with instrument.  Not quite 400hrs total time, but most of my experience is from Marine Corps flight training (T-34's and Bell 206's) where I earned my wings.  Anxious to keep adding hours and experience.  k_zielinski@juno.com  Good luck to all!

Hi Guys,

I've got a Long Ranger L3 based in Southern California. Been doing alot of flying by myself lately on 2 and 3 hour turn arounds. Some of the hopps are much shorter, and some waiting is involved.

Besides just straight and level flight time I'll teach the up and comers turbine's, mountain flying, sling loads, and all the mistakes I learned the hard way.$125.00 per hour

I am a pilot with LA County Fire Department. I was recently contacted by a friend of a friend who has just purchased a R-22 and needs an R-22 rated pilot to ferry the ship from Clear Lake, Calif. to Yuma ,AZ. I don't know anything more than that. Please contact me at 661-254-3239 for details. I contacted a local R-22 operator, Helistream, but unfortunately they have not returned my two calls.

Thanks,

This interests me too!

I still need to save more cash OR I am prepared to fly anywhere in the world to work for flight time in a Helicopter environment with the goal of becoming a CFI in Schweizers. (I am a 165hr R22 Cpl(H) currently living in Japan and have a British passport)

Only the money is holding me back...

Hi All:

I am an experienced(20yrs) helicopter mechanic based in SE Alaska, I am working on my commercil pilots lic. I would be happy to help with any ferry (fixed or rotary wing) for free if the pilot is willing to instruct along the way. I'll even buy the plane ticket to get to the aircraft. I will even help without the flight time (but it might cost you a bit). I have lots of experience with ferry/recovery, have done the lwr 48 to AK trip a few times now. I also work month on/off so I have a bit of time on my hands.
