Minimum Altitudes

Ahh, apparently Avnut doesn't understand irony or sarcasm, or joking around. No surprise (he says with a big sigh). Either our boy Avi didn't come equipped with a sense of humor at birth (probable), or his Sense Of Humor circuit breaker has been zip-tied *out* for a long, long time (equally probable). Too bad, really. Imagine what an experienced guy like Avbubba could be if he actually had a personality and didn't think he was King Sh*t?

How might you have phrased that if you intended to speak as an adult? Honestly, for a self-professed old man, afraid of his equipment and his job, and who has been around long enough to claim to have lost his nerve, you come across as a whiny 14 year old.

Wigga, avbubba, King sh*t, Avi, Avnut...did no one teach you how to speak? I have an excellent sense of humor, but you haven't provided any yet. Your sense or irony is impaired. Perhaps you should see about having that fixed.

Hello All,

My two cents worth. I actually work at one of the tour places on International drive that the posted is referring to and I can say without a doubt that we always fly at 1,000' AGL except during landing and takeoff. Our owner is quite specific and demands that we stay away from certain noise sensitive area and minimize the time over residential areas.

Not sure about the other tour operators but generally if you grab the tail number off of the helicopter, look up the owner and make a polite request most the operators will be happy to help.

It's really quite sad that it was Avnut who had to turn this perfectly good, productive thread into one of his typical, patented personal insult-fests. Does that guy EVER get tired of being the grumpy old turd who thinks *he* is the only one who's right and everyone else is wrong?

Look, I am unapologetic about helicopters. They exist and yeah, they make noise. Too friggin' bad. How's about we just un-invent them? Would that make people happy?

I'm not afraid of calling a spade a spade. I don't feel like we should go on an ass-kissing spree every time someone complains about helicopter noise...especially WHEN THAT HELICOPTER IS ABIDING BY THE RULES. Why should *we* make excuses for our industry? We're not doing anything wrong! Senator Schumer, you can go to hell! We'll vote you out next time, I promise you!

If the helicopters in question in Orlando really were flying "at 100 feet" over Wb's house, then I'd say yeah, he has a valid complaint. But they're (obviously) not. You know how far 100 feet is? About six car lengths. So, as you're sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic you count up six cars ahead. Now compare that to how high the helicopter is that just flew over you. About the same, eh? Feh- hardly. Any idiot could see that.

But not only that. These helicopters are doing what they are legally able and licensed to do. This is America, after all. People are allowed to make a living.

What's next? If Wb gets the helicopter companies to bend to his particular complaint and alter their routes/altitudes, will he next go on a rant about the traffic out on International Drive?

It's not like Wb has lived in the area since before helicopters were invented. At least then he *might* have a leg to stand on. No, clearly he (she?) lives in an apartment complex...and therefore is a renter. Or maybe it's a condo. Either way, he/she hasn't been living there *that* long. Nobody held a gun to his head...nobody forced him to live there. As I've pointed out, he *could* have done a little more research on the place before agreeing to move there. Moving into an area and then complaining about noise is just immature. This one's easy: GO LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE...SOMEWHERE QUIETER...somewhere that's not in the exact CENTER of one of the biggest entertainment/tourist meccas in all of America.

You know, grow up.

This is what you call productive? It's rare that you participate in any thread and offer anything "productive," but your response to the original poster here was anything but. It was a sad, pathetic response which did nothing to answer the original posters questions, yet fully served to degrade you, the industry, and airport relations in general. Nothing other than one what one might expect of you.

Retire.

One who lives in an area where aircraft operate has every right as a tenant or property owner to question movement of aircraft overhead. It's not uncommon, given enough public compliant, to alter traffic flow, and it's not uncommon given mature, rational individuals at the airport (or in this case online), to provide a simple, understandable diplomatic response that explains the matter. You've done none of those things. Not a damn thing.

Your immaturity is tiresome. It really is. You give a bad name to a bad name, to say nothing of the industry at large. Fortunately, your piss poor attitude is so cartoonish that even a newcoming such as the original poster should be able to spot it for what it is, and dismiss what you have to say just as easily.
