StanFoster Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I hadnt flown for almost a week....so I took my Helicycle out for a flight not having any mission in mind. I noticed the cloud deck about 4000 feet up.....nice and broken....so I went up on top.....5700 asl. Took this short video........and then did a deorbit burn and landed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzm9hGCj2Kk&list=UUXZAO9NlkN9JZrM_c1hmdoQ&index=1 1 Quote

Trans Lift Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I thought that title meant something completely different, I kinda got excited!! Thats waaaaaay too high in any helicopter. What is a deorbit burn? 1 Quote
aeroscout Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Yes, it's a little on the high altitude side, but I still can't hide my jealousy. 1 Quote
SBuzzkill Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) I think most helicopter pilots are afraid of heights. Cool video though! I love where the camera is mounted. Edited February 17, 2013 by SBuzzkill Quote
StanFoster Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 I admit that I never have really enjoyed flying that high in anything. I like to see the ground moving under me. 95% of my Helicycle flying is below 300 feet. Stan Quote
Rotortramp Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Now you can tell people you joined the mile high club in a single seat helicopter! ...wait a minute... 2 Quote

The Russians aren't well known for reliability in their engineering. They did best when copying, or outright innovation. Both ends of the spectrum you might say. No, I haven't found any video of it yet, but I'll keep looking. Quote

Wasn't the bigger problem for them was that they ran out of money? We gotta give 'em some credit. Quote

But if you look at my comment about Russian innovation, you will see that we don't disagree, or at the very least, we don't disagree much. Quote
