Does anyone have any experience with the Bose A20 or the Lightspeed Zulu 2 and flying with the doors off the helicopter. I am wondering if the rotor wash and wind will interfere with the clarity of the mic. Does anyone know if one is better than the other in this department?

On a side note, is the Lightspeed Zulu 2 made in the USA?

Thanks!

I have a zulu, the first one though, and I don't know where its made. For the most part its just fine in an R22 with the doors off, but sometimes when I turn my head a certain way I get a weird noise from the wind hitting the earcup.

I have Bose, and wind noise seems to be amplified somewhat. It is especially noticeable when turning base with a moderate to strong wind coming through the cabin. All in all they are still better than the old DC's I had. :D

Bose A20: No problems, works fine. Wind noise picks up a bit when you stick your head out the door, but not to a problematic level.

Zulu 1: Not recommended, occasional "whopping" noise is very distracting

Zulu 2: Haven't tried it

I have the Zulu 2, flying in an R22 doors off, The wind and blade slap activate the mic sometimes. Yes I get some blade slap, and don't always keep in trim... there always seems to be wind when I fly ;). (Probably more because I just started training but, I'm slowly getting better.) No experience with the Bose, went with the Zulu because when I tried the Bose at the Expo, they hurt my head.

Have both headsets. Either one works fine ... just adjust the intercom squelch accordingly ... that's what it's for.
