JRoddious Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I am interested on getting a helmet and was wondering if the color matters? I am finishing up my Commercial license and would feel a bit better wearing a helmet. Most of the helmets I've seen seem to be white. Is there an industry standard, or can I pick any color I'd like? There's a dark grey I really like. Thanks. Quote
Flying Pig Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Pick whatever you want. It's pretty common for people to customize their helmets. I emphasis "THEIR" helmet, not the companies 1 Quote
WolftalonID Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I personally like the tan color....keeps it uniform all the way to the center!!!! Quote
Spike Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Depends on what you’re doing……. Contrasting colors make it easy for others to find you if the need arises. For example; while flying out in the boonies and you go down, your helmet may be the difference between getting found, or not…… Or, floating in the middle of the ocean ya may not want a blue or white color scheme…… Blending in is not advisable….. avbug Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My helmet is bright yellow. It's bright yellow because when I bought it, I wanted a kevlar helmet (as opposed to the standard fiberglass), and the seller happened to have one extra left over in the same type and model and size as what I wanted. It was extra from an order by a racing boat team, and they'd ordered in yellow. I got a good deal on a helmet that was yellow. It's easy to spot, which is a good thing. I use two backup helmets, which are standard grey. Quote
aeroscout Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I have a red one. No one has complained yet. Quote
