screename6785
Hi there, I have an interview at a company who does GOM work coming up in a few weeks. Until then, I would like to study up on whatever regs and subject areas that may be useful. So, pretty much what I'm asking is, what subject areas should I study up on prior to an interview for a GOM job?
BOATFIXERGUY
There are some really good GOM pilots on this forum. I'm sure some of the others will answer up on here also.. PM me and I'll tell you what I can. john
Gomer Pylot
There are no special regulations for the GOM, just the standard Part 135. Each operator will have its own unique operations specifications, but otherwise it's straight commercial ops. The only unusual part is flying over water, which completely freaks out some people. The approaches are pinnacle approaches to elevated pads, but otherwise pretty normal.
ADRidge
You might also want to be familiar with AIM 10-2-1.
PhotoFlyer
Just be familiar with all the usual part 91 regs, and spend some time reading part 135. As long as you are familiar with part 91 and 135 you will be fine. It also doesn't hurt to get familiar with the aforementioned section of the AIM. If you don't mind saying, who are you interviewing with?
FauxZ
More importantly, who is hiring!!!
JDHelicopterPilot
Take a look at a chart of the area. You will have an interview flight no doubt. When I interviewed there I had to plan a quick XC flight to a nearby airport. Then a simulated engine failure along the way. Review part 91, airspace and the like. There may be a short quiz on that. Gomer Pylot
Mostly, know what the company does, and where it flies. Research the company, and its area of operations. That will be more productive than trying to learn the entire Gulf of Mexico, which takes considerable time and effort.
