How to get a pilot job

I would sure like to know the secret to get into the gulf. I have over 1500 PIC, instrument rating and have a personal recommendation from someone who works there and still am not getting a call back.

I got hired back before the economy turned and Silver State tanked. It is about who you know to a degree, but my company is only hiring people with more advanced experience like 500 hours of turbine time, previous offshore time, or multi engine experience.

It seems like now you have to compete with pilots who have 6000 hours plus this and that(exageration) for entry level jobs these days. It is definately an employer's market.

Nobody is hiring right now, except (maybe) PHI. You aren't getting a call back because they don't need you right now. Just keep calling to chat with the HR guy so he knows your name, and when they begin to hire again you will have improved your odds of being noticed in the pile of resumes.

It really doesn't matter who you know. They just aren't hiring. PHI is doing some hiring, but without offshore experience, you won't get an interview. I got hired 2 1/2 years ago when everyone was hiring like mad. I know it doesn't do you much good, but at least the layoffs haven't been too deep.
