avbug
Ozzie1, Your commercial IS your pilot certificate. It's not a rating. As you progress in your training, you'll add ratings. Ratings on our certificate come in the form of category and class rating (eg, helicopter, airplane, etc), or type ratings for specific aircraft. Your commercial pilot certificate will be the core certification to which your other ratings and certification is attached, or upon which it is based. Just as you were probably told at the time you completed your private, it's a license to learn, as will be each certificate or rating you earn hereafter. Buy yourself a beer, or a milkshake, and take a break. Don't take it for too long; the rest of your career will be spent learning; it doesn't end when flight school is over. Once you're done with your training, that's where you start learning. Good luck.
