What I see when Im looking for training

Recommended Posts

So..as an LE pilot, I have some observations. We are always looking for ways to expand and improve training.

I love it (sarcasm) when I go to the sites of helicopter companies and see all over their web pages photos of AStars, Hueys, Jet Rangers, 500's and various LE agencies aircraft that I know on sight. And I know for a FACT that none of those helicopters have anything to do with that company. If your business is flying R-22's, 44's or 300s, then put up photos of your helicopters in action. Not someone elses EC135 with the tail numbers blurred out.

Now, I am not talking to the flight school operator who is showing prospective students what may lie ahead as a career. I have no issues with a nice looking site with plenty of helo porn.

Example....When I call you up for, airborne use of force training, and I see a pictures of the 160th SOAR on your site, Im going somewhere else.

If your company cant show photos of YOUR operations and YOUR training or you are showing these photos and leading people to believe its your school training op, you are a liar in my book.

When I click on your "Hoist Rescue" icon, and I see a Bell 412 operated by a well known department who I know does their own training, Im going to definitely ask if thats you out on the skid training them.

Putting up a photo of an agency conducting a hoist rescue that your company had nothing to do with is, #1 lying and misleading, and #2 disrespectful to the men and women performing those missions. Your attempting to ride their coat tails and make money. I am all for making money. Just do it on your own merits.

When I look through a site and see, oh....lets say an agencies B3 on your homepage doing a hoist, Im going to call my friends in air ops and find out the deal. When they tell me they have no idea why their helicopters are on your site Im going to assume your a fraud.

When I go to your "Photo Gallery" and the caption says "Some of our helicopters in action and training ops" I should be seeing pictures of your operations, not photos of helicopters with their N-Numbers photoshopped out, not pictures you cut and pasted from the internet attempting to make your company appear to be something its not and definitely not photos of people I actually know, who dont know you and who say theyve never heard of you.

When I click on the "Our Aircraft" icon and I see a 212, a Jet Ranger, an L4, Im assuming that when I visit you, I will see those. Not be told that you can make some calls and find a buddy who might have one I can rent, where you will in turn charge me a middle man fee for making the call. If you have pictures of aircraft belonging to other agencies, at least make sure they are of training ops YOUR COMPANY has actually put on.

You dont have to take my advice. But for those of you who dont, you are providing us with hours of entertainment.

Honesty and accuracy goes a long way.

Only one operator I can think of that just happens to be in CA. that fits that description!

Nice post.......if only one could go back in time......maybe pick June 20, 2007 as an example...

It’s the most bizarre thing ever.. People will believe anything they want to believe no matter their place in life. This certainly holds true for supposed “professionals” in “respectable” positions who make a ton of cash on the backs of us taxpayers. This is how outfits like this survive by simply persuading the ignorant public servant who’s got the juice, minus the brain….

It’s one thing to be duped by an unscrupulous operator. It’s another to dupe a government….

I think I just found that website. I don't think I saw one picture of a registration number that they actually operate. Of course, they must be pretty awesome if they've been around for "over 20 years" with a "0% accident rate and a 100% first time pass rate". <_<
