supergokougt Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Couldn't think of a better title. But I am looking for books with flying as a part or whole. Just read Peter Heller - The Dog Stars. Not looking for anything educational, which most of my searches led me to. Look forward to seeing what you reply with. 2 Quote
rotornut67 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 The Aviators by W.E.B. Griffin. It is a good read for fiction. Quote
gary-mike Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Check out Randy Mains books http://www.randymains.com/enter/. He is a great author, speaker, and all around great guy. I chatted with him in Vegas last year, the guy has some good stories. He talked to me and my wife for quite awhile, as if we had been friends for years. Quote
zippiesdrainage Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Absolutely, Randy Mains. He gave me a signed copy of "Journey to the Golden Hour" about his search for a job and his adventures after returning from Vietnam. Excellent book. I don't get to read as much for fun as I would like, and my bookshelf is more filled with educational books, but I also read Chickenhawk a few years ago and liked it a lot. Quote

LifeApresMil Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 To the limit: an Air Cav Huey pilot in Vietnam,by Tom A. Johnson, 2006 ISBN 978-1-59797-001 Very entertaining, moving (as in, heart wrenching), and a tad educational in a good way. Enjoy! 1 Quote
Little Bird Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Just finished "Sweating the Metal" about chooks in Afghanistan. Top read. Also notice Amazon has a sale today, if you have a kindle, "Dead Men Flying" is a good, cheap read. Quote
aeroscout Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 If it's flying in general, or flying related Catch 22 is another book written by a Heller. Joseph that is, and his book has earned wide critical acclaim. Quote
LTF Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 "Fate Is The Hunter" Ernest K. Gann and any of his other books. Quote
