Flying Pig Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Aside from Bristow in Titusville, FL are there any S300s around from Central FL -> South? Quote
helonorth Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Unless West Florida Helicopters in St. Pete starts doing training again, I would say no. I have been here for five years and haven't found anybody else since Tropical in Leesburg closed up. There is a guy in Inverness that has a 300 called Owens Air Service. I don't know what he does or even if it's a real business, but it might be worth some investigating. If you find out anything, I'd be interested to know. Quote
Flying Pig Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 All the schools down in this area are doing their instrument training in 44s or 66s. No thanks! What a scam. Quote
helonorth Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I did some of my instrument at Tomlinson. They have nice aircraft and there is pretty much every kind of approach within 10 minutes. It was a 2 hour drive for me and no FTD. Too bad Tropical went tango uniform. They had C models and a Fly-It. One of their instructors bought it but I don't think he lasted a year. Quote

Depending in the time of day you might have to go a little further out to do all your approaches as the nearest airport with an ILS can get busy at times. I do believe that Pelican uses 300Cs and they are out of Pembrooke Pines. Quote
pilot#476398 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 What about,...dare I say it,...an R22 IR trainer? Quote
Flying Pig Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) The schools near by are all using 44s or 66s for IFR training. One wants $600 per hr. I was trying to avoid driving 3-4hrs away Edited December 1, 2013 by Flying Pig Quote
pilot#476398 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Is Tampa Bay Aviation too far away? Quote
Flying Pig Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Do they use R22s? Another place I contacted nearby only used the 44 for instrument training Quote
pilot#476398 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Do they use R22s? Another place I contacted nearby only used the 44 for instrument training Their ad (up to the right ) says instrument R22. Quote
Flying Pig Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Well… would ya look at that. In law enforcement we call that a clue Quote
bombdoc Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 That specific helicopter (N2626N) featured in the ad crashd last year, killing the pilot. I took a flight in it the week prior. Quote
