I've always been a strong willed/resilient person and competitive, but at the same time, I don't consider myself "extroverted". I tend to be more on the quiet side. Will this have an adverse affect on me as an Army pilot? In particular, the Apache community?

I'm the same way. You're going to face the same challenges you would in any extrovert-dominated environment, but it won't have a big impact on how you're perceived as a pilot or soldier.

10 years ago it didn't matter, but since we're drawing down to 420,000 soldiers now to stay in the army for a career you have to be a butt smooching politician. Doesn't matter if you're the best pilot in the battalion, politics trump warfighting.

You can gauge personalities simply by reading the comments on this forum. Really Army Aviation is nothing more than a slice of America; you have all types.

While in the Army you spend a significant amount together at work, it's like any other job and at the end of the day, everyone goes home to their families. Ultimately you're getting paid to work and not how well you socialize with your coworkers. Unless you're some kind of antisocial, things should be fine. Then again, I've seen antisocial guys do their thing as well. They aren't "one of the boys" but I don't think they cared either.

Lastshot haven't you already been selected? Seems like you're worrying about insignificant things this late in the game.

I disagree with the mentality that Army Aviation is dominated by type A personalities. It's just not true. Army Aviation is more a microcosm of the military population as a whole. You have every personality type imaginable in each unit. Every one of us knows "that guy", the overachiever, lazy bastard, workaholic, and the idiot.
